CNNMoney reported that the National Safety Council (NSC) found that the number of people killed in traffic accidents in the first six months of 2016 was 9% higher than it was in the first half of 2015. The NSC reported that 19,100 people were killed from January 2016 to June 2016 — compared to 17,350 in the same six months last year — and 2.2 million were seriously injured. This year’s numbers were also higher than they were the same time two years ago, when there were 16,251 fatalities on the road.
