Recently on January 21, 2015, a fire swept through prospect heights damaging local businesses, destroying personal residences, and leaving one man dead.

According to reports, the fire department received a call about a fire on Flatbush Avenue in Prospect Heights around 3:30 in the morning.  In total, about 198 firefighters were called to the scene to get the fire under control, which raged for nearly five hours.
