Woman Trapped by SUV Saved by Good Samaritans

On the evening of January 26, 2020, as a woman attempted to cross the street at Delancey and Norfolk Street on the City’s Lower East Side, she was suddenly struck by an SUV.  After being struck, the woman became trapped underneath the SUV.  Onlookers immediately came to her rescue and helped free her from underneath the car, once again showing the integrity and compassion that exists amongst the residents of New York City.

Queens Motorcyclist Dies After Crashing into Porsche

A Queens man riding a motorcycle on the Long Island Expressway has died after crashing into a Porsche. The crash took place early in the morning on June 15, when the driver of the motorcycle appears to have lost control of his vehicle and crashed into the car. Police are currently investigating the accident but have made no allegations of foul play.

Man Drives Car Through Staten Island Home on Mother’s Day

An elderly Staten Island woman got an unexpected, and unwanted, Mother’s Day surprise when a man drove his car through her home early in the morning. The man, driving a silver BMW 330i, crashed into her sunroom at high speed, causing significant damage to the structure and the car. Thankfully, however, neither the resident nor the driver was severely injured, although the driver was taken to the hospital for evaluation.

Bill Will Allow NYC Cyclists To Pass Through LPI Intersections

Earlier this year, New York City Councilman Carlos Menchaca introduced a bill that would allow cyclists to ride through certain red lights. Currently, cyclists and cars are treated the same way under the law. The bill would allow for cyclists to ride through red lights with Lead Pedestrian Intervals (LPIs), which extend the duration of a red light to give pedestrians additional time to cross the street before traffic begins to move. According to the Department of Transportation (DOT), there are almost 1,500 intersections throughout New York City that have LPIs.
